Quasi un film didattico, “y’a qu’à pas baiser” lotta contro l’immagine stereotipata della donna/madre, vuol illustrare la semplicità del metodo abortivo Karman, mostra la gioia rabbiosa della prima grande manifestazione femminista per l’aborto e la contraccezione liberi e gratuiti (20 novembre 1971).
Essenziale e intelligente come sempre, il montaggio alterna e oppone dialetticamente la parola falsamente neutra del potere mediatico maschile (il parere di un “esperto” evidentemente contro l’aborto) alle riprese a mano, personali e partecipi, di Carole Roussopoulos.
Che non si limita a percorrere le sfumature di una manifestazione, ma indaga anche i suoi margini, le reazioni dei passanti, le donne che solidarizzano senza partecipare perché “non hanno più l’età”.
Il titolo è suggerito proprio da un’anziana passante antiabortista, che suggerisce la sua soluzione finale al problema dell’aborto, tra vari altri consigli pregni d’ipocrisia...
Un film forte e gaio, tristemente attuale.
A sort of didactic film, “y’a qu’à pas baiser” (“just give up fucking”) struggles against the stereotyped image of the woman/mother, attempts to illustrate the simplicity of Karman’s abortion method, shows the angry joy of the first big feminist demonstration in defence of accessible, free-of -charge abortion and contraception (20 November 1971).
Essential and clever as usual, the editing alternates and dialectically opposes the falsely neutral words of male media power (the opinion of an “expert”, clearly against abortion) to Carole Roussopoulos’ over-the-shoulder shots, sympathetic and committed.
Not only she does run through the nuances within the demonstration, but also investigates it at its sides, the reaction of passers-by, women sympathising but not joining in, because “they are too old for it”.
The title is given by an anti-abortion old lady passing by, who suggests her own final solution to the problem of abortion, along with other advice full of hypocrisy…
A joyful and strong film, sadly topical again.
