Françoise Giroud, sceneggiatrice giornalista e scrittrice, segretaria di Stato per la Condizione femminile dal 1974, è invitata ad un’emissione che “festeggia” la fine dell’Anno della donna proclamato dall’ONU per il 1975 (“ancora un giorno e l’anno della donna, uff!, è finito!”). Delphine Seyrig registra l’emissione, e con tre amiche e compagne si applica a criticarla e a reinventarla con rabbia, intelligenza e umorismo.
Satira sociale, che strizza l’occhio al bel film tutto al femminile di Jacques Rivette Céline et Julie vont en bateau, il video di queste “Muse che si divertono” si struttura a partire da un lavoro gioioso di scomposizione, sovrapposizione, ripetizione, fermo-immagine, intertitoli scritti a mano. Masochismo e misoginia convolano a nozze, una risata li seppellirà.

Françoise Giroud, scriptwriter, journalist and writer, Minister for Women’s Condition from 1974, is invited to a TV show that “celebrates” the end of the “Year of the Woman” declared by the UN for 1975 (“one more day and the year of the woman, phew, is over!”). Delphine Seyrig records the show and with three women, friends and comrades, starts to criticize it and re-invent it with rage, intelligence and humour.
A social satire, that winks at the beautiful all-woman movie Céline et Julie vont en bateau by Jacques Rivette, the video of these three “Muses having fun” develops from a joyful game of disassembling and superimposing, of repetitions, freeze-frames and hand-written titles. Masochism and misogyny get married, and laughter will bury them all.
